Merzouga is a village in southeastern Morocco. The village is near the Erg Chebbi dunes, among the tallest in the Sahara. It is about 35 kilometres (22 mi) southeast of Rissani, about 55 kilometres (34 mi) from Erfoud and about 50 kilometres (31 mi) from the Algerian border. Some of the other villages near the dunes are Hassilabied, Tanamoust, Takoujt, Khamlia, and Tisserdmine. Rissani is the closest city of significant size, at a distance of 42 kilometres (26 mi).

As soon as you arrive in Merzouga, you'll be captivated by the scenery. From the towering sand dunes to the expansive desert landscape, there's no shortage of breathtaking views in this area. One of the most popular activities in Merzouga is a camel trek through the desert. As you ride atop a camel, you'll be able to take in the stunning surroundings and truly appreciate the vastness of the Sahara.

In addition to camel treks, there are plenty of other activities to enjoy in Merzouga. You can take a 4x4 tour of the desert, go sandboarding down the dunes, or even take a hot air balloon ride for a bird's eye view of the area. For those interested in the local culture, there are opportunities to visit nearby Berber villages and learn about their way of life.
